When I first began making this blog I had absolutely no idea where to begin or what I wanted to accomplish throughout its development. I thought it was going to be extremely hard, but once I started I realized that I actually began to enjoy researching this topic, and learning all about the different perspectives one could have. Honestly after all of the information and arguments I have encountered, I have no clue whether I should be for or against job outsourcing. While on one hand it has the potential to do lots of damage to America’s economy, it also has the potential to improve it, along with the global economy as a whole. To me it does seem like the progress the world needs to continue with its globalization. However when important decisions are left in the wrong hands, there is great potential for disaster. I hope, like most people do that job outsourcing is leading us into a better future and has great things in store for the world, however no one can be sure that this will be the result. So after completing the project I am left in a small state of turmoil, not knowing which opinion I should have. I think I will continue to follow the topic to see how it progresses and wait for more of an opportunity to actually do something once it arises.

At this point I have finished all of my breaking news articles and have just about finished the entire blog project. In my last breaking news article, the aspect of the future of job outsourcing was brought up. While many people are concerned with how job outsourcing is currently affecting our lives, I think it is also very important to understand what the future has in store. The frightening part is that no one can really be sure. The main thought is that companies will continue outsourcing jobs more and more each year. However, how this will affect our economy and the global economy is up in the air. It all depends on how the circumstances change in each of the separate nations. Either American’s will begin to protest and increase competition and keep more jobs local, or they will come to terms with the fact that job outsourcing can be a positive thing. Either India will leave its education the way it is now, bringing about further damage to their own economy, leading to a negative domino effect in all the economies of the world, or they will realize how much is at stake and do something to reform their education. The future of job outsourcing and the global economy relies largely upon the decisions made by individuals around the world.

I think it is interesting how concerned some people are with the way America is affecting foreign traditions. Many people feel that outsourcing jobs in India is progressively making them resemble America in culture and lifestyle. While I believe it is true that out nations are becoming more connected and more similar, I don’t think this is the result of America forcing their customs on India. I think India still has the choice of to what extent they want to change and become more western in style, and to what extent they want to preserve their own cultures and traditions. If a mother decides her family will benefit more if she gets a job, then who are we to stop her, or even think this decision was due to our influence? Decisions like these are based off of an increased standard of living, or at least the desire for it, and if it hadn’t been America outsourcing jobs to their country, something else could have caused this change, provoking the same decision.

I have begun to realize that a lot of the fear associated with job outsourcing comes with a lack of trust. Americans in particular seem to have an incredibly hard time trusting people from foreign nations. Many do not like knowing that the state of their economy is directly linked to the state of another country’s, for example, India. But they especially do not trust the people on an individual level. For some reason we are more worried when our personal information is in the hands of someone in India than we are when it is shared with different people here in the United States. The idea to most people is just completely nerve-wracking. People tend to believe that due to a less supervised working environment, companies who outsource will receive lower quality work, however several articles that I have read state the opposite. They tend to find people who are more qualified for these positions in India than they would in the United States. I think that as long as companies do their research, and keep a close eye on the work being done in their outsourced jobs, people should be a little less worried, and a little more open-minded about the whole idea.

As we all know, technology is very important in our current lifestyle. It allows us to accomplish things more efficiently than doing them by hand. Students no longer go to the library to get books in order to do their research papers because it is just easier to google search the information or to search a libraries online databases and read the books online. People now obtain high school and college degrees online, and can work from home. They don’t even have to leave to go to a meeting, because we can phone conference or video chat right from the board room. This has led us to be a generation that expects instant gratification. We expect to get the things we want right away with little to no effort or expense. The answer to this? Job outsourcing. Job outsourcing is a company’s way of giving the people what they want. If your computer breaks at 2 in the morning, you can get on the phone with someone right away and get it fixed, instead of waiting for 9 am the next day for normal business hours. People are so ready to complain about job outsourcing, and I know there are definite cons to the strategy, but isn’t it just what we’re looking for?

One of the main things I am realizing throughout making this blog is that the world in fact is changing, and at a rapid rate. I am also seeing how resistant people are to that change. Many would like to keep things the way they are or even take them back to their ‘old fashioned’ state. Because of the ever growing prevalence of technology, the world is growing, but at the same time, it is shrinking. We are becoming more connected and more similar. There are varying opinions on whether this is good or bad, but despite all the arguments it is happening, and I don’t think it is going to stop anytime soon. Things such as going to college on your computer angers some people. They just do not think its the proper way to do things. Taking a class means sitting in a lecture hall for an hour each day and doing the assignments that night when you get home. But that just isn’t the case anymore. We know have options on how we wish to receive our education, and those choices should be made based on how we will learn better, not on what others consider the ‘right’ way to do something.

At this point I have added several breaking news articles to my blog, and with each one I seem to become more and more suprised by the level that job outsourcing has reached. I had no clue that people in India were scheduling doctors appointments for patients in the United States and countries all over the world to meet with their own personal primary healthcare provider. Infomation like this gets me to wondering how often I am actually speaking to someone over the phone who is across the world and I don’t even realize it.

My second breaking news article was about politicians and their views on job outsourcing, and the effects that they expect it to have on their country. Like the corporations they see job outsourcing as only beneficial to the state of their country’s economy and doubt the sanity of those who disagree. I tend to have a little more trust in the government then I probably should, but I would like to believe that they would attempt to be more honest than the corporations themselves, just because they ‘owe’ it to the citizens of thier country. However, I have also learned lately that coporations have a lot of pull over the government, meaning that they influence a lot of their decisions and what they portray to the people. So once again, while what they are saying sounds good, and sounds likely, it could just be another way for the government to play to the interests of the corporations for their own gain. Im finding that through Q class, and making this blog, that I have a continually weakening trust in the government, and basically anything I hear, which frankly is a bit frightening. The fact that I cannot fully trust an entity that holds so much stake in my life is just unsettling.

At this point I have just found my first breaking news article. It was from the viewpoint of the American Corporations, which I thought was very informative and interesting. One of their claims was that job outsourcing would benefit the economy in the long run, which I’m not sure is completely true or not, however it does sound like a feasible idea. In most of the other views and ideas the advantages were all related to the corporations who outsource and how it lowers their cost of production, thus, lowering the price of the item or service. But the fact that outsourcing could actually create jobs in America never crossed my mind. If this is true, it obviously increases the benefits of job outsourcing.
